New Empire - HL review

January brings new blood!!

Thursday, November 1st, 2001

Well, well, well!! We have news for you :) Along with the great news of a new family member…Trevor the Gnome… come January, you can expect a lot to be happening for Hungry Lucy!! New tunes, and new skills to match!!! We are busy now getting ready to launch some fresh songs into the public ear in January. We have lots lined up in the way of singles, remixes, collaborations, and our appearances on a few compilations. Most of the January work will be evident by March and April, but you WILL know when it happens…i assure you ;P

Also, Christa Belle’s solo project Lady’s Grim will be back in motion next year. She has lots of new tunes ready to slice and dice for your listening pleasure. So, look for that as well!! And,(gasp of amazement…) keep your ear-holes open for new Fishtank No.9 material!!!

War-N and myself have been busy with the great Thorn Apple project. The newest Thorn Apple disc, titled “Crystalline”, is a fabulous feast for the ears. Luscious with heavenly voices…some new, and some familliars from last year…all make you want to melt into your armchair and not move for an hour. These are all original compositions and are well worth the listen. We plan to update the MP3.com page soon so that you may hear this for yourself.

A special thank you goes out to Shawn Brice and I-Li Chang for making Thorn Apple become a reality. They are 2 of the most wonderful people on earth, and we don’t know what we’d do without knowing them. WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Go listen to their new project bloodWIRE NOW!!!

Take care over the holidays, and we’ll see you in January!!

Love, Hungry Lucy

“Apparitions: Revisited” was voted heartbreaker of the season in Side-Line magazine n°37 (oct. 01) by Stéphane Froidcoeur who wrote “…. The elegant and refined electro structures guided by a triphop cadence and the porcelain vocal parts of Christa Belle announce a graceful and intense masterpiece…”.

Kerstin Strobel gave the album a 8,5/10 note in the October issue of Orkus. “…a perfect mixture of harmonic goth, romantic synth pop and dark trip-hop…”.

France’s Elegy magazine also wrote a positive feedback “…Result: a sort of gothic version of Portishead, not far away from the terrific Switchblade Symphony sisters. Another proof of quality is the number of guests on the album…”.

Belgium’s Dark Entries also confirms the potential of this debut CD “…This “Apparitions Revisited” album knows no single “skip-moment”… An album that deserves to be heard by poeple who have good music taste”.
