Penumbra Show Comments

Monday, October 7th, 2002

The first thing we wanted to say is THANK YOU to Patti and Terry Kok for inviting us to play at such a wonderful event! While there weren’t many people there, it was a warm audience indeed (especially in the bonfire circle!!). We got to see so many great bands play and got to know some really great people. Neurepublik got things started around 3 pm on Saturday and played an awesome set! Throughout the afternoon, and into the evening, many bands graced the stage including Dragonfly Reel, Etherclinic, Faun Fables and Temple of Misery. They were all wonderful and a welcome change to the usual high-hat ridden tempos we usually hear at a live event. DJ Copper Top (from Indianapolis) played a superb mix ranging from mellow Rasputina tracks to the heavenly trip-hop songs of Trigger10d. She mixed some Covenant in with it making it a lovely set to listen to while anxiously awaiting the next band. Great talent was present all around us!!

Though we loved all the bands, we did have a favorite. Faun Fables captivated us in a way I’ve never experienced live before! I sat motionless while watching the duo play in such a way that I couldn’t decide who to watch as they played! Dawn with her guitar and enchanting voice with nothing held back, and Nils with his guitar, flute, chopsticks and autoharp (which he played with the chopsticks), his incredible voice and expressions! Just superb!! They both lured me in and it was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. We bought their CD from them at the show, and it is just a grand as their performance. Do check them out!!

We have a few pictures shot by Sam Marotta of Trigger10d and some video clips (which will go up when we redesign the site in the coming few months). You can check out the pickies HERE. Peter & Carol Harrison shot some too, and we will put those up soon as well.

All in all, a great weekend!! We will now rest and finish the album ,”Glô”, and have it out to you soon…very soon!! After that, we plan to do more shows next year…who knows where or when?!?

Until then, remember,”Old habits die hard. Just about as hard as I want those eggs!” Do YOU know who said that?? I do :) If you know too, drop me a line. ‘haps we have a favorite show in common, yes?

Much love and stuff!

Cleveland show and Glō update

Tuesday, October 1st, 2002

Well, we did it. We played in Cleveland with State of Being, Chiasm, Indoria, Ctrl-X and many others. It was fun to see all the bands in one place, even though we missed Ctrl-X’s performance while waiting to go on ourselves. Attendance was so-so, but the response was great. Thanks to each of you who DID attend :) We really appreciate it!

So, now we are in the mixing process for our new forthcoming disc “Glo” and it’s sounding WONDERFUL!! We will be giving you glimpses of things to come, but not so much that you’re not surprised when the album is available ;) I mean come on…we have to save some stuff to keep you on your toes!!

The response to one of our new tracks, “In the Circle”, was tremendous and we thank you for your feedback. It reassured us that we’re on the right track with our new songs.

I guess that’s it for now. Oh, and don’t forget to catch us in the woods at the lovely Penumbra Festival this weekend. It runs October 4-6 and the bands participating will play on October 5th. For more info, go here and check it out!

In closing, see ya!!

Love-n-Stuff,
Hungry Lucy
