Saturday, January 14th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyEpisode 9 of Tea with Hungry Lucy finds us lacking Christa Belle for the week, so War-N does his best to keep the podcast rolling. War-N talks about a brief inspirationally dry spell and his efforts to get the creative juices flowing. These come in the form of music from Kate Bush, Bel Canto, and Qntal (of the Noir Records label). War-N also talks about the Sleepwatching DVD and gives thanx to the podcasters and internet radio stations that have supported Hungry Lucy… specifically ArtistLaunch and Enchantress Radio. Mixed in with the discussion are unreleased full versions of the Hungry Lucy songs Stay (from Glō) and Alfred (orginally from Apparitions).

new tunes progress

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

Aside from the video work we’ve been doing and the holidays, we have made some progress lately on new music. Rather than focus on one song at a time I’ve been working on several on parallel. This prevents tedium as you don’t have to hear the same material over and over. I’ve also only been working on music as the mood strikes. It has been my experience that trying to schedule these things results in mediocre songs. Since we don’t have to answer to a label … why not perfect the material instead of rushing to push it out the door?

I’ve been working the past few days on string parts for a song currently title “I Lost” (I think that name will change though). For the strings I’m using the fabulous Garritan Personal Orchestra, which forces me to write true single instrument lines and combine them into section parts. Although I found this method a little tedious at first, the resulting sound is fabulous. I included some of the isolated string parts in our latest podcast for those that are interested. We also spent some time on Sunday listening to old musical/vocal sketches and several stood out as tracks to work on.

… stay tuned (and loopy),

War-N

Tea with Hungry Lucy - Episode 7

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyIn the slightly inebriated Episode 7 of Tea with Hungry Lucy, War-N and Christa forego the tea for some traditional New Year celebration fermented fluids. We hear some new music in the form of string parts and the story behind the song The Chase (from the album To Kill a King). We also learn that Trevor may be heading back home from the grips of Lovespirals. Christa and War-N talk about some of the artists they are currently listening to (Sepiamusic and Celeste Lear) and thank some of the fine folks that have supported them lately (podshow.com, Brave New Frontiers, and Angel Baby). The duo also give props to those who inspire them to stick to their guns and follow their gut (Sarah McLachlan). We round out the episode with the full version of Hungry Lucy’s cover of the New Order song, Love Vigilantes.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!
