Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 15
Episode 15 of Tea with Hungry Lucy is the “Bound in Blood” special, where War-N and Christa pay much respect to the song that started Hungry Lucy … 8 years ago! The duo discuss the various versions of the song and it’s lyrical meaning. 3 different versions are included in the podcast (sick of it yet?)
Christa and War-N also chat about their new friends (and awesome band) Stephanie’s Id as well as other artists they’ve been listening to this week (Chuck Lichtenberger, Iron & Wine and The Birthday Massacre). War-N runs down some upcoming shows (including a local gig with The Birthday Massacre) and touts Christa’s new found mad keyboard skills.
Much thanx to fellow podcasters that have been playing Hungry Lucy, including Podcast for Peace, Reaching for Lucidity, and InDigital.
Keep the feedback coming!

Hey guys,
I apologize in advanced for any typoos and grammatical errors; since me am tired, nervous, and hyper, so this may prove to be a rather long post…
My wife and I should be ‘closing’ (I hate that term) on our first house in about 12 hours, so naturally I can’t sleep. It has been the stresses associated with that gawd awful horribly evil ordeal that has made my posts trickle to about nothing. Oh, and thanks to Skeb for the squishy (which may have taken new meaning to some after the whole ‘soiling myself’ discussion).
It just me, or did anyone else envision a giant grizzly bear in a diaper?
We are moving to a little town (last census population 867) and we will be without satellite TV for two weeks (living like cavemen) and no internet OR phone for 6 weeks (may as well say we will be the equivalency of a prehistoric lizard species that chocked on an ice cube and died soon after emerging from the egg, thus making it extinct before the evolutionary wheel got to roll over it). All because this town is rolling out technology like if it is 1996 or som’n (an example is that we live about ¼ mile away from the post office, but they don’t deliver to us since WE are considered rural…). So that means no HL podcast for me, for a loooooooooong time…
That being said I want to thank you for the past episodes (which I will listen to again in the coming weeks) and have a suggestion or two for upcoming episodes while I am away (use ‘em if you wish…)
Ever since that magical night in the Metro I have been a fan of the song, ‘Bed of Flames’. I saw some young whippersnapper singing along with Christa (he was off stage obviously) and I think she noticed him and fed off that one man’s soulful performance that she crouched down and reached out a hand towards him and I got SO jealous since I thought the song was beautiful but did not yet know the lyrics.
That song is the one I sing along with the most passionately. Many times I find myself driving with my eyes shut and swaying to the music (but INSIST that watching a video pod cast while driving is worse) and singing loudly (but nicely as to not disturb people in other cars).
So, here comes my point, do you think there would EVER (snowball + Hell = ?) be a chance of fan (ahem- say my dog Vinny, perhaps …) possibly (coff) maybe (ooh, look how late it is…) having the opportunity to sometime (not now obviously) sing the backup (not lead, can’t steal the light from Sparky herself) male vocal of that song in a concert with you?
Whew… that was tough, been wanting to ask that for over a year now. But now that I have asked it I feel 3.2% less better. Time to change that diaper. (Grrr).
But wait, there’s more… since so many people love your beloved songs, have you ever thought of doing a ‘sing-along’ (i.e. Sarah McLachlan’s ‘Ice Cream’) version of a song at one of your venues?
K, digest that… I love you and will miss you ::belch!:: very much
Angel
PS I heard Imogen Heap on XM Radio’s Hear Music (the Starbuck’s channel) the other day, it made me wonder if you still have music play on the Unsigned channel? I heard ‘Her Song’ once on there a long time ago and I giggled, you know why?
It was so awesome to know I wasn’t the only one listening…

waaahhh I dont want you to live in some random nowhere place!
we’ll miss you lotssss!
I think gizzy singing on Bed of Flames would be super awsome! just make it a gig that I can go see (like, whenever I get the chance to visit the big american bit).
oh, the podcast!
It was funny. Im glad I didnt listen to it on the bus, cuz I woulda looked weird.
Im not sure what version I like best, I seem to like them all
would you ever do yet another one?
I have to admit im bad and haven’t listened to any of the Sonic Spotlight’s yet O.O I will I will!
Keep up the good work Cwishta n Waaawweeenn

Dust. Dust. Anyone ? Dusssst. Anyone ? Moonwheel in Flange, I’d better start making sense……!
Great show, but that Gnome sounds like trouble. I hope Chloe’s claws are sharp in case Trevor tries a surprise rear attack. He sounds like he’d love that. Is there a Gnome Narcotics Anonymous round your way ? Perhaps he should enrol.
And Warren - sounds like you work in a very enlightened company. I work in IT and we’re restricted to 30 mins web browsing - whilst clocked out during non-core hours - a day. And NO listening to music. It’s draconian (but not as draconian-sounding as Countess Christula at the top of the show..)
Now - has any of that made ANY sense ? What a right kerfuffle….

Heya guys!
Bound in Blood is the first Hungry Lucy song I ever heard, waaaaay back when it was freely available on mp3.com heh. Showing how long I’ve been a fan, hmmmm? You had the original version on there, not one of the mixes. The original is still my favorite version.
) I have both their albums… good stuff, good stuff. Did your show with them fall through? I noticed you had it crossed out now. Ah well, no matter. Take a page out of their book when it comes time to book tours, eh?
Oh, I had a little bord tell me that he wanted you to talk about the song “Storm”. I told him I’d see what I could do.
Love you guys!
Ooh, gotta mention I’m a big fan of The Birthday Massacre. I’ll be seeing them March 21st when they’ll be here in Atlanta ( hint hint cough cough

Thanx everyone for the comments!
Angel: We’ll miss you while you’re gone!
A sing-along would be cool. My insecure side wonders whether more than 2 ppl would join in though? :l
Skebbie: Another version of Bound in Blood?! Aren’t you sick of it yet? ;P Although the temptation sometimes strikes to go back and rework older songs … it usually ends up being a chore and takes time away from creating NEW music … and that’s no good!
Grant: I guess I’m very lucky in my office. I work in a building full of designers where I’m one of a handful of web programmers. I think I’d go loopy(er) if I couldn’t hear music all day!
Skorcher: To clear it up … it doesn’t look like the Birthday Massacre show is happening here in Cincinnati after all. I was informed it was a done deal, but that was not the case. Nobody’s fault … just a miscommunication. We shall try to get down to ATL sometime soon … perhaps this Summer
Thank you all for listening every week and indulging our rants and chats. The podcast has truly become part of our lives now and Sunday evening would be empty without it. It still blows my mind that we’re getting this many downloads (currently ~350 each episode) .. and growing every week! Thank you Thank you

350 odd downloads? where are the comments!!!! or are people just continually re-downloading it ?
Ok, another Bound in Blood isnt needed, new music is super awsome. I just thought since you were saying that christa’s vocals had improved since, that you’d maybe wanna re do it or something. Not that it needs it of course!!
Any new video podcasts coming up?
:D :D?

I think a lot of people listen and enjoy but don’t take the time to provide feedback like you and the other loyal fans do Skeb. I’m sure War-N & Christa really appreciate the feedback and hearing what people like and don’t like

Dunno whats difficult about commenting :s oh well, nevermind! at least people ARE commenting
