Sunday, April 30th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyEpisode 24 of Tea with Hungry Lucy is here .. YAY! This week War-N and Christa talk about winding up weeks of video work in preparation for ElectroFest as well as a few other upcoming shows. Sadly, the planned West coat dates will not be happening in May after all. After some techincal difficulties War-N swears off playing live shows. Christa assures us he’s just being cranky.! :) The story behind the song this week digs into the song Softly (from the album To Kill a King). This is a very powerful song that needs paying attention to folks. In the OPM (other people’s music) segment, Christa talks about two albums from bands they both love. ThouShaltNot will release Land Dispute on May 23rd and Halou will also release Wholeness & Separation on the same day! Both great albums from great artists who aren’t afraid of change. War-N also talks about the band Múm and their album Summer Make Good. Odd vocals, quirky music … goodness. Rounding out the episode is the Thorn Apple song, Cracked Door Pane created by Christa, Sam, George and Ben (from Trigger 10d) and Shawn (from Bloodwire).

Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 23

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyThe longest ever Tea with Hungry Lucy (50+ minutes), Episode 23 finds Christa and War-N exhausted, but quite chatty, from a long weekend of shooting videos. They couple also discuss upcoming shows and the soon to be released EP (Before We Stand … We Crawl). In the OPM area (other people’s music) this week, Christa taks about Nick Lachey’s new music, Will Smith and the fact that music doesn’t have to be indie to be good! War-N talks about Imogen Heap’s new single and current tour, past and future music from Jewel, and the forthcomng album from Zero 7. He also speaks about wanting to catch Thomas Dolby on his current tour … which probably won’t be possible. The story behind the song this week focuses on the new track, “Losing Faith”, for which Christa wrote the lyrics and music. The podcast ends with the music from Losing Faith (since the vocals are yet to be recorded).

Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 22

Sunday, April 16th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyAfter a gaseous intro from Grant Mason (of Three from Leith) we commence with Episode 22 of Tea with Hungry Lucy. This week, Christa and War-N tell us about their latest performance with Entheos and the fabulous Kelly Evans Trio. Hungry Lucy’s performance was a tad glitchy due to some technical issues, but very well received. Christa is buried in video work for the upcoming ElectroFest. This week’s story behind the song focuses on Alfred (from the album Apparitions). In the OPM (other people’s music) segment, Christa shares the songs Flying High by Jem (from her Finally Woken album), Run by Air (from their Talkie Walkie album) and Asphole by Pigface (from their Notes From Thee Underground album). War-N chimes in on Air with their song All I Need (from the album Moon Safari) as well as Home by Zero 7 (from their album When it Falls). War-N closes out the show by announcing a brand new Hungry Lucy EP (tentatively titled: Before We Stand … We Crawl) which will be available in the next couple of months!

Tea with Hungry Lucy - Episode 20

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyChrista and War-N commemorate episode 20 of Tea with Hungry Lucy with a new theme tune, the brand new HL song “A Girl Alone”. In Hungry Lucy news, the duo finally announce their invitation and contribution to a tribute album for the author Neil Gaiman. Both very excited at the opportunity to honor the author and appear alongside Tori Amos, Rasputina, and may other great artists. More details here. The story behind the song this week focuses on “Fearful” (from the album Glo). In the OPM segment (other people’s music) Christa shares “Suspended in Time” by Olivia Newton-John (from the “Xanadu” soundtrack) and “Winter” by Tori Amos (from her “Little Earthquakes” album). War-N shares “A Better Way” (video) by Ben Harper from his “Both Sides of the Gun” album (thanx to Tyim for the recommendation) and “And On” by Yazoo from their “You and Me Both” album (thanx to David for reminding me about this GREAT album), as well as “Hide and Seek” by Imogen Heap from her “Speak for Yourself” album. After OPM War-N goes into a rant about his frustration with the music industry and how irresponsible journalism can only fuel the fire. He is pissed, but exercises restraint like a good boy! :) The episode rounds out with a live performance of the song Fearful … just piano and Christa’s voice… yummy!
