Tea with Hungry Lucy - Episode 20
Christa and War-N commemorate episode 20 of Tea with Hungry Lucy with a new theme tune, the brand new HL song “A Girl Alone”. In Hungry Lucy news, the duo finally announce their invitation and contribution to a tribute album for the author Neil Gaiman. Both very excited at the opportunity to honor the author and appear alongside Tori Amos, Rasputina, and may other great artists. More details here. The story behind the song this week focuses on “Fearful” (from the album Glo). In the OPM segment (other people’s music) Christa shares “Suspended in Time” by Olivia Newton-John (from the “Xanadu” soundtrack) and “Winter” by Tori Amos (from her “Little Earthquakes” album). War-N shares “A Better Way” (video) by Ben Harper from his “Both Sides of the Gun” album (thanx to Tyim for the recommendation) and “And On” by Yazoo from their “You and Me Both” album (thanx to David for reminding me about this GREAT album), as well as “Hide and Seek” by Imogen Heap from her “Speak for Yourself” album. After OPM War-N goes into a rant about his frustration with the music industry and how irresponsible journalism can only fuel the fire. He is pissed, but exercises restraint like a good boy!
The episode rounds out with a live performance of the song Fearful … just piano and Christa’s voice… yummy!

I don’t like those silly cds that dont let you download the tracks onto your pc or whatever. I mean, billions of people now use iPods and MP3 players, but there are people like me who would rather have the cd and the artwork to keep rather than just downloading it from iTunes or somewhere. But hell if the cd doesn’t let me put the music onto it then what the hell is the point? lol I’ve fallen in love with tones of artists getting tracks from other people who have the cd or have bought the mp3 or whatnot. If I hadn’t downloaded from other people, then I wouldn’t know Hungry Lucy totaly kicked arse! Its crap when websits rip you off with illegal crap. Oh its all so complicated! But yes Id rather buy the cd (unless it isnt possible… where oh where is my Qntal cd??? I ordered it months ago!)
Eh, what else was I gunna say? Oh, I can’t stop listening to “Reigndance”
I have most of the tracks (heck, I may possibly have every HL cd! now all i need is HL featured ones :P) but I especially like the To Kill a King remix by Oil 10. mmmmmm~
Have you guys heard Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells II?
lovely live performance!
:D

Gotta agree with Urthona and Skebbie there, the new song sounds wonderful! I was surprised with the version of Fearful, because I always liked how it sounded a bit more upbeat than the rest of the album…kinda made it stand out. It was not bad at all; in fact, I quite enjoyed it, more of a pleasant surprise than anything.
In last weeks episode you mentioned the trouble you had booking Atlanta, with the venue saying they were closing or whatnot. I know exactly the place you are talking about, and indeed they were supposed to close but did not. That’s actually where I saw The Birthday Massacre play a few weeks ago, and I am there every Sat. night. If you’d like to try them again, it’s worth a shot. Or, I could talk with you guys about the other venues around here… there are tons of em! If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll send you an email about it.
Unitl next time….
