Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 23

Tea with Hungry LucyThe longest ever Tea with Hungry Lucy (50+ minutes), Episode 23 finds Christa and War-N exhausted, but quite chatty, from a long weekend of shooting videos. They couple also discuss upcoming shows and the soon to be released EP (Before We Stand … We Crawl). In the OPM area (other people’s music) this week, Christa taks about Nick Lachey’s new music, Will Smith and the fact that music doesn’t have to be indie to be good! War-N talks about Imogen Heap’s new single and current tour, past and future music from Jewel, and the forthcomng album from Zero 7. He also speaks about wanting to catch Thomas Dolby on his current tour … which probably won’t be possible. The story behind the song this week focuses on the new track, “Losing Faith”, for which Christa wrote the lyrics and music. The podcast ends with the music from Losing Faith (since the vocals are yet to be recorded).

Another very enjoyable podcast. The long ones are good IMO. It’s so great to hear that “A Girl Alone” will be on the EP as well as “Harvest.” I’m glad that you guys are releasing the EP before the CD because I’ve been dying to hear what the rest of those will sound like. It would’ve been hard to wait much longer. They sound so awesome so far and “Losing Faith” sound really frickin’ beautiful and cool too. Can’t wait to hear the vocals for all of them!!! You guys continue to amaze me each time. Well have a good week and I look forward to the next podcast. :)

another wonderful podcast! thanks! Tea with Hungry Lucy & Three from Leith are the only podcast mice manage to finish listening to the day they are released!

from somewhere in the Tea with HL back-cataloge mice remember War-N mentioned a website that suggested similar songs to a sing input. http://www.musicip.com/ has Mac&Win software that works by taking all those mp3s in your iTunes and the finger(?)printing them. Then you can pick a song and ask for a mix based on that song (or songs). lots of fun when you have a lot of songs (mice got all 400+cds in iTunes). A mix based on Stay [bloodWIRE mix]:

    \Hungry Lucy\Glo\2-10 Stay [bloodWIRE mix].mp3
    \Tony Davis\Thieves & Kings Presents Riverwolf\12 The Call Back.mp3
    \John Foxx\The Golden Section\10 Twilight’s Last Gleaming.mp3
    \Hungry Lucy\Apparitions\12 Grave (Digger Mix).mp3
    \Cinematic Orchestra\Everyday7 Everyday.mp3
    \Telemetry Orchestra\Children Stay Free\11 Pick Pocket Venus.mp3
\Gregorian\Masters Of Chant Chapter 26 Child In Time.mp3
    \Love Psychedelico\Love Psychedelico III\????????.MP3
    \Moby\Play\13 If Things Were Perfect.mp3

Another really entertaining podcast, again giving us gre insight into your music as well as that of others. It was great to hear you chat to each other, so unhibited, and to see what great fans you are of each other ….tis truly luverly. Didn’t know Jewel had another album out … must take a listen … and Nick Lachey …and the new acoustic Erasure album.
You described yourselves as exhausted …. to the listener it came over as very relaxed ….there was only one belch and one hiccup wasn’t there :-) Are you going to be adding a survey to your website for ppl’s fave parts of the body ….ha ha
    TTFN

  4. War-N Says:

Thanx for all the great comments folks. :)

I’d forgotten about the Erasure disc .. I think that’s released by now! It also turns out that Thomas Dolby is going to be close-by (within 250 miles) on an upcoming Saturday… so we’re there!

Mice: Thanx for the tip on MusicIP. I’ll be trying that out.

I hppened upon Tea With Hungry Lucy some weeks ago but have only started lisetening this past week. I am almost up to speed.
I just wanted to say I very much enjoy listening to your podcasts. The experiences you share are enlightening as well as entertaining.
I don’t know how familiar you are with Ego Likeness (as you know they will be joining you on the Neil Gaiman disc) but, if you are unfamiliar with their music, I highly recommend it. My favorite song of theirs is Wolves, particularly live.
I also highly recommend Final Cut Studio. Final Cut Pro is solid and a dream to edit with. Once you get the basics down it just flows. Unfortunately, my video card can’t run Motion. I can’t wait to dig into that one :-)
I do enjoy your music very much. You guys are very talented, down-to-earth folks who deserve all the best!

  6. Skeb Says:

The B side to Imogen Heap’s Single is “Speeding Cars”

Have you ordered the special package where you get the cd and 12 inch vinyl thingy and it gets signed??? :D I did :D :D :D

    “say goodnight and goooo~”

Im seeing her in Edinburgh ( I think I already said that).

    I want videos :) :)

    “Summa summa summer tiiimeee~”

“I like dancing, at the disco~”

xD LOL I agree about saying that a woman is attractive but not being homosexual. ms Goldfrapp has great legs, the bitch XD

I never have anything productive to say lol

  7. Christa Belle Says:

hee hee… “i want to ride on a white horse… i want to ride on a white horse.” while singing with my extremely large microphone and combing through my lovely locks with a huge comb!!! oh, and my damn fine sexy legs ;)

we do have Motion, but i haven’t ventured over to that stuff yet. i’m sure i will at some point in the near future though. i was getting bored with the Vegas stuff! :/ thanks for the advice!!

Skeb, i think the “Vinyl thingie” is called a Record. in ancient times, people used to listen to their music on these devicees. BUT, since they melt in the summer heat whilst young girls (who were dancing around in their driveway with the “Vinyl Thingie” playing on the record player in the sun) pretend to be Olivia Newton-John, they became obsolete! ;) but seriously, they do sound totally different than CD’s or Tapes. i love the warmth of a Record and i find the “pops” and “scratches” quite endearing.

well, thanks for listening. we’ll keep on talking no matter what!!

    much love to all,

    Christa Belle

  8. PNC Says:

Well talking of vinyl records, before that there were the kinda bakelite brittle ones that revolved 78 times every minute. And to play them originally a thick needle and large horn were involved. And a handle to wind up the mechanism. We are old enough to have experienced this low tech approach first hand a looooong time ago. Just thought we’d share :-)

  9. Jeff Howell Says:

I just wanted to thank you for another wonderful podcast. It’s very enjoyable listening to you both and I’ve discovered several new artists I’ve enjoyed via your OPM segment. To share one recent track I’m really into, Blue October has a song called “Congratulations” which I think is great, and it has Imogen Heap in it so I thought you might like it. Later, Jeff

  10. Grant Says:

A little late this week in joining in the comment frenzy, but yet another wonderful show. Based on the experiences of my good friends Santa Dog, I have a small suggestion: how about asking fans to pre-order the EP to help fund it’s production ? Santa Dog released a limited-edition 100 copies of their latest EP, where those who paid up for it had their names printed on the sleeve (I was No.1 !!!) and received special artwork from the band inside the gatefold cover. Afterwards, there was just a non-gatefold, normal edition of the EP available.
You can read about it here .

    Just a thought.

    Keep on burpin’ !!

  11. Skeb Says:

im sowwy… i do remember records! im not that young!! i used to dance to enya records :P and its not hot enough over here for them to go crazy, we just rarely bought music (until the skeb gots older). so im getting a record but i dont have a record player! waaaahhh!!!!! oh well, it gets signed :)
