Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 25
In a slightly sleepy episode 25 of Tea with Hungry Lucy, War-N and Christa talk about the fun they had at ElectroFest and weekend with Shawn and I-Li of Bloodwire. The story behind the song digs into “You Are” (from the album To Kill a King) which is NOT a sexy song as some people think (video)! In the OPM (other people’s music) segment Christa talks about two songs from the Cardigans (Communication and 3:45: No Sleep) from their Long Gone Before Daylight album (War-N got the name wrong). War-N talks about the song Dragonfly by Mr. Meeble that he heard on Anji Bee’s Chillcast. He also talks about the longtime favorite song Fumbling Towards Ecstasy by Sarah McLachlan (from the album Fumbling Towards Ecstasy). On to some rest before recording next week!

Thanx for listening. Anyone that can switch from laptop/keyboard to guitar to cello mid-song has my respect!

War-N, “Apparitions” is a wonderful album!! I’m not a musician so I don’t know anything about production and all that and can’t speak from that perspective but from a fan’s perspective it’s extremely enjoyable. Maybe you’re just really sick of it because it’s the oldest?
“You Are” has definately been my favorite off “To Kill a King” but not because I thought it was about sex. The vocals have a really cool unique sound on it and the instrumental parts sound really cool too. Well, looking forward to hearing the podcast with Bloodwire, and really looking forward to hearing the new EP.

urthona: Don’t pay any attention to me belly-aching about “Apparitions”. It’s clearly some of our most popular and enjoyed music, and I certainly never mean to fault anyone for enjoying it. I am always looking and reaching for the “next thing” so it sometimes feels counter-productive to me to celebrate an album that is now almost 6 years old. Just know that this is just me being a fickle artist type!
Thanx for continuing to listen!

Hehe that’s totally understandable, and I can also totally understand getting sick of music you have to perform over and over again, as I’ve been in choirs and had voice lessons. It’s kind of sad how it can almost ruin great music for the performer. I’m also really glad you guys are always striving for new sounds-that’s part of what’s great about you. I just thought it would be unfortunate if you didn’t realize how lovely your work was from that album.

I’m looking forward to the live video - you mentioned it and now I’m going to pester you until it’s up !!! It’s the only way I’m going to see you and Christa ‘live’ unless I strike it rich tomorrow and can afford to fly you over here (or me over there).
Hope you enjoyed being back at work, War-N. The world of IT is a delightfully exciting way to pay the bills, is it not ? (says me having spent a day getting a headache with the joys of Java Calendar and Date ‘features’ in order to resolve a system issue).
Any rich women out there want to pay for me to a non-labouring house-husband ?! I don’t want to work any more….
