glad to BE back on the Podcast circuit. i missed it a lot! i hope we can keep it weekly. we just run out of things to chat about after so long. Plus, we’ll run out of songs for “Story Behind the Sng” soon!! that reminds me, i need to write down the requested song for next week :)

Glad you’re back. The podcast was missed but I’m sure it was worth it for the EP. Journey is a lovely song. Personally I love layered vocals like that and I thought it sounded cool in that one as well. What is the third reworked song on the EP (besides “Fearless” and “Alfred”)? Have you guys found any places in Atlanta yet where you could play?

What a treat to have you two back in my ears again as I travel to another dreary day at work ! I’ve missed the laughs and smiles and music these last few weeks.

Both her Mum and I have a deep love of reading (I used to get through 1 or two books a week on the bus before podcasting meant I could’t read and listen to people talking at the same time) which I guess Jasna has inherited from us. From birth she’s been read to, and she use to sit for hour after hour demanding more stories. She still loves stories and now of course she’s learned to read and just leapt ahead of her classmates. It’s now even more fun for her and I to take turn about reading a chapter each of her bedtime stories. I adore that time every Sat and Sun night when she stays with me when we laugh, giggle and do all the voices for the characters in the books.

Guess I should make the most of it before (a) she doesn’t want me to read to her any more, or (b) we get to the “I hate you and you’re so unfair” stage ;-)

I’ll need to get her to read a short story for the podcast sometime (although I suspect that might breach some kind of copyright so perhaps not).

Take care you two (and Chloe)

    Grant

p.s. Skeb - pop by and listen before I send the boys round ;-)

  5. Jeff Howell Says:

Hi War-N and Christa, nice to hear your voices again. Thanks for another enjoyable podcast. I look forward to the EP.

If you haven’t read it already, I think Neil’s short story collection “Smoke & Mirrors” is very enjoyable. (One of my favs is the story “Troll Bridge”).

Grant, not to butt in on the conversation, but one thing I thought of: If you visit http://www.gutenberg.org/catalog/world/search then search for “children” in the subject field, there’s a lot of public doman books for kids.

  6. KinGizzard Says:

Well, the only thing missing from the podcast was my little OPM muhnkee…

    Hope he is ok.

    Welcome back!

  7. Skeb Says:

I think you guys should have a listen to Nelly Furtado’s new album “Loose”, some of the songs are really good! I never thought i’d be a fan of her work…

lol i havent even touched American Gods yet… Stardust is super thin and I havent finished it yet LOL im so sloooowww

  8. Grant Says:

    Jeff,

Thanks for the tip. I was nearly very upset tonight when I put her to bed. We picked out her bedtime story ( a new book she chose for her birthday in May but hadn’t read yet), and she proceeded to read the thing without me…. I thought it was the end of my bedtime story routine and I was quietly crying inside. However, 3/4 of the way through she yawned and handed the book over to me to finish. Phew !! I’m a happy man again. The minute she’s old enough to not want me to read to her any more will be the minute I feel too old ;-)

  9. KinGizzard Says:

Has anyone ever heard Voltaire’s song, “Goodnight, Demon Slayer?”

I told my wife that should we ever have children, that is the main lullabye I will ever sing.

    No child should fear monsters…

  10. War-N Says:

Fabulous song KinGizzard. I get the pleasure of seeing & hearing Voltaire perform this coming Saturday. btw: the monkey returneth in #28 ;P

Skebbie: I have only heard the inituial single from Nelly’s latest album so far. While I like the beat of it, it seemed a little slim on the songwriting chops I’ve come to expect from Ms. Furtado. I will reserve judgement until I’ve heard the full album though. Thanks for the tip.
