Here we go!

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Well, off we go again! The past several days have been nothing but last minute details and crossing things off lists. Now, 2 hours before we head to Detroit I find myself with an odd sense of having nothing to do. While my nature doesn’t typically deal well with having nothing to do, I feel a pleasant sense of calm this morning. The calm before the storm perhaps. Ahead of us we have, who knows how many, thousands of miles to travel, 30 odd shows to play and hopefully lots of great people to meet. Being a bit of a non-social creature (”anti” is too strong) show nights are really the only time I truly feel comfortable in a social setting. So it’s therapy in more ways than one.

I must admit that leaving for tour without having the Oct. dates 100% confirmed (or posted) feels a little odd, but I know those details are in Alisa’s capable hands.

Ok … tonight: Detroit … tomorrow: Peoria … Saturday: Chicago … off we go!! :)

Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 38

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyHands up who likes Cassocks?? War-N sure does. In a slightly askew episode, Christa & War-N ramble on about how things are going for preparing for the tour and how their house is suffering from disarray. War-N announces the brand new DVD “Second Sight”, which will be available at shows only (for now), for just 10 short dollars! This week’s OPM combines Hungry Lucy WITH the other artist. Infrastructure remixed “Telltale Shot” for HL on the album “Glo“, and part of Infrastructure (Provocateur) will be playing with Hungry Lucy on September 19th in Portland Maine. So you see, it’s all interconnected! In a tiny Story Behind the Song (phrase, really), Christa briefly tells the tale of how “Powered by Vegetables” came to be. Hebede hebedee hebedeee that’s all folks! Until we sneeze, I mean meet, again from the road!!

Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 37

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyHello children!! War-N starts out this week’s TWHL with a loud greeting from a bubble in his throat. Discussions are plenty on this chat as the duo take us on a weird ride through their week. All members of HL (including Chloe) were sick for a week, so productivity was a bit low. Christa mentions that the bedroom re-construciotn is now complete! They will no longer mention this annoying fact on future podcasts ;) Thanks to Roy, CB & War-N chat about the “good old days” of playing new tracks at club Vertigo (Cincinnati, OH… now defunct) when HL first formed. Remembering sights, smells and sounds of club goodness. Ahhh… so sweet! The story behind the song was “Fool” from the album “To Kill A King“. Christa deeply discusses the inspiration for the lyrics and part of the instrumentation and War-N thinks back to remember what inspired his choices for the music. OPM’s mentioned were Scenic Square, Nick Cave and Natalie Walker (formerly of Daughter Darling). Ending this week’s rambling cavern of thought was War-N removing his pants and trying to compete with Soccergirl! Other podcasts/radio mentioned were Dave’s Lounge, Three From Leith, and WXOU Radio.

Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 36

Sunday, August 13th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyNyQuil anyone? War-N’s sickness doesn’t stop him from participating in this week’s chat! Despite his feeling off, the duo chat about many things this week. Some of which include confirmed tour dates (still more to come), Chloe’s visit to the vet, completion of the destroyed bedroom and why they have smelly water. The OPM choices of Christa Belle include The Rasmus and Switchblade Symphony. CB continues talking about Switchblade Symphony and how they helped bring War-N and Christa together! Then, the discussion takes an unexpected turn to talk about other people’s magazines… DELICIOUS! And even more unexpetedly, Christa mentions the reason’s she’d make a horrible Lesbian. Oh dear… what a week they’ve had!

Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 35

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyStarting off this week’s podcast is a chipper War-N and slightly moody, pukey Christa Belle. Topics discussed included the construction on the duo’s house, building the video sequences for the tour, set lists galore, getting ready for full rehearsals and announcing some of the confirmed tour spots. The pair chat about the lovely time they had at CB’s dear friend Kristi’s wedding over the weekend. Christa attempts to play the Penny Whistle and fails miserably, but War-N comes in and plays like a pro. OPM’s included the amazingly talented KT Tunstall and Keane. The story behind the song is for the rather cryptic, vague song “A Girl Alone” from the new EP “Before We Stand…We Crawl” which is available now for just 7 short dollars! The episode ends with a discussion about musicians differences of opinion on the process of writing verses the end result of the album.
