Tea with Hungry Lucy Netcast - Episode 47

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyWell, they’re back from Lestat’s Ball and are still alive to tell this tale! CB & W chat about Lestat, balls, other performers and all the wonderful people they met on their journey. OPM’s included Voltaire, Beth Patterson & Kalafka and Red Heaven. Nosferatu was present in a vegetative state, gnarly teeth and all, and CB’s parents thoroughly enjoyed their first Vampire Ball. CB tells the rather scary tales of her past encounters with spirits and makes War-N uncomfortable, yet again. War-N answers a couple of Grant Mason’s last questions and introduces us to the Badger that lives in his beard… along with a family of Wrens! CB tells Grant how long she’s been a tea-jenny and why. Don’t forget to vote for Hungry Lucy in YouTube’s Underground Contest!

Tea with Hungry Lucy netcast - Episode 46

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

Tea with Hungry Lucy“The howling winds!” greet us in this week’s TWHL. A nice change, albeit temporary, for the season. As we dive into topics, CB asks two of Grant Mason’s questions to War-N about keyboards and podcasting. War-N happily abliges and talks fondly of his old keyboards and music beginnings. CB chats about a couple of ghost stories from her past for Roy, and War-N tells us of his experience with Christa on a hunt for ghostly adventures. Once the wolves calm down, War-N discusses his new, special toy (a Zoom H4) and all it’s wonderful features. OPM’s included for chilly weather listening were CB’s picks Audra and The Cure while War-N brought Atomica to the table. Ending the episode was a weird comment on the tv show “The Underground” and the Sarah Silverman movie “Jesus is Magic“. Sometimes being inappropriate is just funny! Stay tuned for more ghost stories and questions from the town of Leith!

Meet The Boys!

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Well, after a long time coming, here are our new boys! Peanut is the larger one and Sebastian is the smaller one. Though, in these pics, it is rather hard to tell. Peanut looks directly at the camera while Sebastian does not. They are brothers and are 4 years old. Both are black as Midnight! I feel that Peanut was given the wrong name, and he doesn’t even respond to it, but it would be wrong to change it. He is, after all, totally NUTS!!!

They came to us out of need for a new home. It was a bit too close to our beloved Chloe’s departure, but we did it to help them and to help War-N’s brother and family too. They now feel like part of this twisted, crazy family, and they are pretty crazy themselves! I think they have found the right home with us.

On this day, they were enjoying a cuddle together in “the orange chair” that all cats love. Every cat I’ve ever had has been very fond of this chair!! Funny that. Anyhoo, they began to bathe each other and I happened to have the camera right beside me. I hadn’t been able to get many good pix until this day. In some of the pix they looked like one large cat! Sebastian just laid there enjoying the sun for hours after Peanut left. Sebastian is the sleepy one for sure, and so cuddly!!

So, I’m sure this won’t be the last set of pics you will see of our glorious boys, but I’m glad to finally introduce them to all of you :)

Take care,

Christa Belle

Tea with Hungry Lucy netcast - Episode 45

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyAhem! Cough, cough. Excuse me? This week finds Christa Belle sick, again, and War-N doing new music. CB tells us of her journey to Lexington over the weekend and her adventures with her family in the cemetery. War-N answers the questions about being Vegetarian and about how he came to live in the United States, being born in England and all. During the veghead explanation, CB ponders the gassiness that Grant Mason asked about. Beano anyone?? OPM’s include Lisa Germano (read War-N’s live show review) and Dead Can Dance. Ending the episode is CB explaining that she’ll talk about a ghost story on Sunday for Roy Boy as she needs to think of a good one.

Vampire Lestat Ball - SOLD OUT!

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

I learned yesterday that the Vampire Lestat Ball in New Orleans, at which Hungry Lucy is performing on Oct 27th is now SOLD OUT. So, if you don’t yet have tickets … I’m afraid you’re out of luck! Christa and I have been looking forward to this show for months for so many reasons, and this news just makes it that much better. It’ll be very cool to share the stage with Voltaire as well.

So, our last show of 2006 … and it should be a fun one!

On an unrelated note, the next Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast (#45) will be delayed a little as Sparky (Christa) will be out of town until Tuesday. Tea with half of Hungry Lucy is just not acceptable! :)

Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 44

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyThis week Christa and War-N bring back “The Story Behind the Song” to discuss the dreamy track, Last October (from the album Glō). War-N talks about the sparks that ignite each song for him and highlights the unlikely combo of Halou and Alanis Morrisette for this song. Christa talks about the expressive quality of the human voice, as so much more the simple musical notes, and references Tori Amos as a great example. In the OPM segment (other people’s music) the duo talk about the amazing Stephanie’s Id (their house guests on Friday) and War-N talks about one of his early inspirations, Suzanne Ciani. War-N also solicits ideas for podcast topics from all of you listeners. What do you want to hear on the podcast?

What’s next?

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

I thought I’d better post some blogness as it’s been a while. Since my last post we’ve played the always fun Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati. Performing at Midpoint is always a small part of the fun with so many great performers to take in. I only wish the local community was this vibrant year round … although that would be pretty exhausting! Last weekend we performed in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with techno-industrial group, Machinegun Symphony. They were truly great people to hang out with and put on one hell of a show! Their light show was blissful! After Cedar Rapids (where yet another technical glitch appeared) both Christa and I were pretty burnt-out on relying on failing electronics and, in truth, playing live shows in general. We love to perform and meet people, but it can wear you out really quickly. Now, having been back at the day job for a week, I’m ready to go out again. :) In reality though, we must refine our live rig before we embark on more shows in 2007. We have just one more in 2006 (The Vampire Lestat Ball in New Orleans). We’re also both itching to start writing and recording again. As always, I’m sure we’ll share some fruits of our labor along the way via the weekly podcast.

For the next few months, making music and spending time with friends and family will be #1 priority.

Stay tuned for new music … much love to all.

War-N

Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast - Episode 43

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

Tea with Hungry LucyThis week Christa and War-N talk about their weekend show in Cedar Rapids, IA with Machinegun Symphony and Ananias. Fun times were had by all even though War-N over-indulged in bean soup and embarrased himself. War-N & CB talk about their new family members (Peanut and Sebastian) as well as the fact that the new HL DVD (Second Sight) is now available on the website.
