Quite a busy Sunday at HL Central. I (War-N) spent the morning sequencing music for our performance of “We Won’t Go” on Episode 66 of Tea with Hungry Lucy. I’m sticking with one keyboard (Triton LE) for our live performances this year. Partly to force a little constraint and partly to avoid lugging the whole studio around. We did a once through before recording the podcast and then recorded the song live. Came out pretty good too … hear for yourself.
Around 10:15pm we called in to WNRN radio for a quickie live phone interview. We sent a box full-o-goodies for their yearly fund drive (as we did last year). All indications are we’ll be playing in their neck of the woods later thus Summer.
Now … time for some Sleepy Time tea I think.

Lot’s to talk about in episode 66 of Tea with Hungry Lucy. After a one week hiatus, War-N and Christa fresh from their refreshing vacation in the Smokie Mountains share some of their time away from reality. Lots of new music, including a new intro and live performance of “We Won’t Go” (from the Neil Gaiman tribute CD “Where’s Neil When You Need Him?“. War-N cranked out 5 new pieces of music during the 4 day trip … amazing what a little disconnected time will do! There was also lots of random banter with War-N’s Mum and Dad and some bottles of loverly wine … and you get to listen in. Mum and Dad even pick the OPM (other people’s music) for the week. Mum’s pick is Johnny Ray and his song “Cry“, while Dad’s pick is Dead Can Dance, and their album “Toward the Within“. DCD provides the perfect musical backdrop for treks through the wondrous nature of the Great Smokies.

Sorry to all that missed Tea with Hungry Lucy this week (Mar 18th). We were on a much required vacation in the remote Smokie Mountains. Lashings of relaxation was enjoyed, piles of new music was written … and a glass or two of wine was consumed. We added a new instrument to our arsenal … a delicious hammered dulcimer from our new friends at The Wood-n-Strings Dulcimer Shop. Now we just have to learn to hammer it appropriately.
We shall tell you all about our trip on the next Tea with Hungry Lucy (Mar 25th). We may even share some of the recording we did up in them mountains … birds and all!
War-N and Christa bring to a close a highly productive weekend and tell us all about it in episode 65 of Tea with Hungry Lucy. Christa (with War-N’s help) brought christabelle.com back to the world starting off with the photo essay/short story “Blood in the Forest” and a recipe for Honey Mustard Tofu. Christa promises to share plenty of goodness via the new site. The duo also spent Sunday sparking, writing and recording a demo of a brand new somber, yet sweet, song entitled “Sunday Smiled”. OPM this week featured Aimee Mann and Paper Route (featured on Episode 18 of The Sonic Spotlight). War-N shares news of a settlement between the FCC and “Big Radio” that should prove very promising for us indie artists. CB & W wrap up the podcast with banter about Chick Flicks and Clatterford.
