Tea with Hungry Lucy - Episode 70 (Ice Cream & Pendulous Breasts)
Musical delights galore this week as Christa and War-N play a live performance of the brand new song, Sunday Smiled. The duo recap their Friday night performance at Diet Audio’s release party. War-N’s neurotic account is captured on the HL blog. Christa had a different view. Speaking of Diet Audio, War-N plays a bit of Diet Audio’s lovely song, Fisa Cassatta, from their brand new CD, Ecrasez I’infame … which War-N didn’t even attempt to pronounce. Get the CD from CDBaby now!
Christa shares an email from Bibo who tells us of a Praise Seitan T-shirt, the Post Punk Kitchen and the tough decisions of his Amazon wish list. Also in this week’s chat War-N goes on a little rant about SoundExchange, and what the hell gives them the right to collect royalties for musicians before asking. Christa transforms into one of her MANY personalities (we’re calling her Edith) and War-N recounts a tale of ice cream treats and pendulous breasts … what could be better? T-shirt contest winners next week!

What a nice surprise to hear my e-mail read on the podcast during my commute to work today! Bjork will be my next purchase. And I hate to admit it but I did own Dream into Action by Howard Jones, but sold it (along with some other CDs) years ago when I was short on cash. I regret selling most of the CDs I did back then. Human’s Lib is still my Favorite HoJo album. Dream into Action needs to be added back to my collection.
And the new song sounded great, that boy can sing too!

The phrase “Ecrasez l’infame” (roughly pronounced “Uh-crahz-ay lawn-fam” and meaning “Crush that which is despicable!”) sounds familiar; I think I’ve heard my French teacher say it a couple of times. Let me google it… aha. Voltaire wrote it, see here:
“Voltaire was not an atheist, but he was against any and all religions that were opposed to freedom of thought. Thus he became a bitter enemy of the Catholic Church as it existed in France. As he aged he spewed a great and greater venom against the church. Beginning in his early 60’s he began to sign his letters to his friends with the phrase “Ecraser l’infame!” (Crush the infamous thing!) Voltaire clearly meant the spirit of persecution but his enemies proclaimed that he was ridiculing the Catholic Church.”
Iiinteresting. Google rocks.
“Sunday Smiled” sounds gorgeous! Your voices blend really well together. Mmmduets.
Will it be on the new album? I can’t remember if I said this when you did “We Won’t Go”, but I really appreciate you letting the cast end with the live performance, no idea if other people prefer it or not but for me it’s great to have the chat and song separate. So thanks again.
Have you got the new Tori album? My copy arrived today and I’m really enjoying it. I’d love to know what you guys think.

Hey Claire,
I do not yet have the new Tori album, but it is in my plans to get it very, very soon! I’ll probably wait and get it together with the new Bjork. I like to clump my purchases so I can get more than one yummy treat at once
Thanks for the info on the French phrase. Makes sense on the musical artist ‘Voltaire’ as well as the original ‘Voltaire’. ya know? They tie together quite nicely. I love finding out new things like that, so thanks again!
Thanks for everypne’s feedback on the new song. It will most definitely be on the new album, in it’s full arrangement, later. Now that we’ve done it, I like ending with the live performances too…without the post-comments. we can get it all out BEFORE the performance! ;p
Well, talk to ya’ll next week.
Take care,
cb
