Tea with Hungry Lucy #82 (Ho Oven)

Tea with Hungry LucyAfter a week off, War-N and Christa return for more random banter. This week the duo chat about preparations for two upcoming shows (in Dayton, OH and Pittsburgh, PA). War-N is working on some new arrangements and Christa on some new videos. These shows should fill the need for some full-on, real Hungry Lucy shows. War-N rants a bit about the foolish comments of Elton John and Christa shares some new writing and photos on christabelle.com. For OPM this week, War-N talks about the song “Listen” by Tears for Fears as well as the wonderful film Little Children (and soundtrack by Thomas Newman). Christa chats about Peter Murphy, his involvement with Sarah Fimm and her own return to all things dark and lovely as Fall approaches.

Nice one Cyril. Did someone say “cussstard”?

Unfortunately, a lot of artists are judged by their singles, at least by the general public, and I find that most of the times singles aren’t very representative for how good an artist is. For me this applies also to Tears For Fears and to Songs From The Big Chair in particular. Shout is ok, but I never liked Everybody Wants To Rule The World. However, the rest of that album is so much better and Listen is one of the best songs on that album. By the way, I could be mistaken, but I don’t think that the version on the album is live. It’s preceded by a live version of Broken, so maybe that gave you the impression that Listen was live too.

I’ve listened forever and always thought “I should comment” and never do. You are part of my Sunday routine, check email, read post secret, and listen to TWHL. The song CB was singing was Naked Eye by Luscious Jackson. (just in case you wanted to know) I didn’t know what really to expect from “Little Children” & found myself quite surprised by the end of it. I tried to explain to someone else after viewing why it was a good movie & couldn’t quite gather my thoughts properly…but I loved how…the things you were supposed to find shocking or horrifying…became muted and what set the unease of the viewer was the seething desperation and isolation hidden under everything. The part played by Jackie Earle Haley was simply stunning. By the end I felt like my head sort of unraveled a bit with such conflicting emotions. (Another movie, same vein, would be “The Woodsman”) Anyway…Good luck with your upcoming shows!

I too find it necessary to tap into my inner goth when the nights come sooner.

Funny, today I wasn’t in the mood to hear the jingle for OPM and some how happened to fast forward right to the ‘gears in his groin’ comment…

Oh Christa, girl, you so crazy!

And War-N, I am lovin’ the lala.com, thanks for the reccomendation!

You know, Angel, I think it’s time for a total re-do on all jingles and intros! I’m rather tired of the OPM jingle myself ;) But, you must really not like it. It’s only a few seconds long, and you felt the need to bypass it! That’s good to know.

Thanks for the info on the Luscious Jackson song. I knew it, but wouldn’t have guessed the artist.

I now look forward to sitting outside in the evening with War-N as the days get shorter and the nights get cooler :) More musical inspiration on it’s way!!

    Thanks to all for commenting.

    Take care!

Well, I wouldn’t say I’m tired of the jingle, just didn’t want to hear it at that particular moment, lol!
