So funny that you mentioned the Incredible Hulk after talking of the Big Wheel...

As that was who was on my Big Wheel!!!

Of course, I only got it after a neighbor had thrown it away, but dammit, it was new to me!

I also ran mine until the treads were non existant.

This is a bit of a stretch of the Big Wheel story, but what the heck ..... my Dad made me this great little bike .... a miniature motorcycle with a wooden frame and metal wheels. He added this little metal flap that rested on the spokes and gave it this great "engine" sound. Needless to say the wheel didn't last very long! And it's amazing I survived .... the bike had no pedals or brakes. We lived on a steep hill and a ride from the top of the hill was breathtaking :-)

Oh my word!! Any mention of flapping skin, teeth or nail is enough to send me shivering under the table!! Wow, what a story. Well, at least you got a dime out of it! :)

I had a very bad experience on that damn red bike I was talking about. Basically, I slid on a gravel patch and landed on my face! Yet one time of many where I had an enlarged forehead due to injury as a child. It's a wonder I can still speak!

Thanks for sharing :)

Take care,

Yes I had Big Wheel, and do I have a story about my Big Wheel!
One day I was riding it barefoot (as we seemed to do too often) and my friend jumped in front of me. I slammed on the brakes (which is just locking up your legs for those that did not have one) and my big toe went in between the wheel and the fork that holds the wheel in place. After a few days the toenail became loose, I remember it flapping up and down when I got into the bath tub. My mom or dad finally just pulled the nail off. My parents had me put the toenail under my pillow that night for the Toenail Fairy, she left me a dime for my toenail.
