Tea with Hungry Lucy #94 (Up Froo Oles)

Tea with Hungry LucyFinally, the monkey kids have returned with some new ramblings and such! This week mentions holiday business, out of town caring for family, voluntary hair loss on both counts and what influence The Beatles had on CB (her OPM choice of the week). Lots of mentions of movies including Across the Universe (hence the Beatlemania) and Inland Empire. The latter scaring the pee pee out of CB whilst folding laundry and the former being a wonderful musical treat for all. War-N’s OPM was A Fine Frenzy, especially the song ‘Almost Lover‘, and both videos for said song (CD/Download). CB mentions the movie-making process for a yearly video she does, including all family-oriented happenings, and how that’s all going. Also mentioned was a photographer Christa saw featured in BW Magazine named Dominic Rouse. For fans of interesting black & white photography, and just good photography in general, go check out his lovely work! The podcast closes with some brand new music … yum yum!

Join us again next week, and we WILL be back next week, for some more musical fun and maybe a few OPM tunes for your listening pleasure!

Do you like grapes?

Have you gotten through the 2nd DVD of deleted scenes from Inland Empire? After the 3+ hours of the movie I have not yet attempted to watch the 2nd DVD. I do have a week off at the end of the month, perhaps I’ll watch then since I am already planning on watching the Twin Peaks box set I bought last month.

I loved Inland Empire; films that force you to try to impose your own order and understanding on what the heck is going on are much more fun ! Lynch was here in Edinburgh recently, but I didn’t get to see him (it was a TM lecture and it was totally sold out).

Just been re-aquainting myself with Lynch’s “On The Air” TV series that appeared after TP ended, and going to watch Fire Walk With Me soon, as I’ve not seen that in years. (I got my ear pierced on the way home from seeing that at the cinema when it came out in the early 90s !!). Mind you, there’s still not a definitive edition of FWWM yet that’s been put out on DVD with DL’s supervision - I hope he gets a move on.

Apart from movie talk, a great show. Where are the ’scalped’ pics ? ;-)

  3. Grant Says:

Re-reading that, I didn’t mean that TWHL was great apart from the movie talk !!!!! I was meaning that as a way to indicate that I’d moved on from talking about movies and wanted to say that it was a great show.

Oh dear. You’d think a Linguistics and English Language MA Hons graduate would be able to organise his language a bit better, wouldn’t you ?

  4. Christa Belle Says:

No worries, Grant :) BTW, I have NEVER seen “On The Air” but remembered it just now as I read your comment!! I must look back into that and view it accordingly, being a DL fan.

I DID like Inland Empire. Just a bit of a whirlwind…even for me. But, I highly enjoyed the look and feel of everything. Well worth the effort to watch :) I don’t have the other extra DVD for IE. I must rent that and give it a look. I don’t think War-N will be all that interested ;)

Well, no podcast today, but hope you all have a great week!!

    See ya later!

    Much Love,

    cb

    Hey,
just a quick note of thanks for the kind comment and the link to my site. I have never seen (or heard) my work described as “lovely” before but it is a most welcome encouragement.

    best

While we’re on the David Lynch theme, I just came across this album from 1998 that I somehow missed by David Lynch & Jocelyn Montgomery called “Lux Vivens - The Music of Hildegard von Bingen”

Another good Lynch music project is Blue Bob

I also recently picked up the new CD “Twin Peaks - Season Two Music and More”

David Lynch is awsome :D But none of his movies make any sense! XD ive only really seen Mullholland Drive (i think thats what its called), and it was like “yeah okay” then it got to the end and fudged the entire story up to like wtf?

I forgot how you guys always burp LOL!!

can we see your new hair?

“ive stubbed my toe toooodaaaaaAAAYY!!” hehehe

    wheeeeeeeeee~

  8. Grant Says:

Mulholland Drive is a complicated place to start, Skeb.

Try Blue Velvet, which is one of my favourite films. Dennis Hopper is THE most frightening madman ever. Or if you want sweet and funny, try The Straight Story (it’s a PG, which tells you how innocent it is).

  9. Skeb Says:

lol it was my boyfriend who gave me it to watch, as he is a bigger fan than me. lol nevermind!

p.s - i hope you got my gift HL!
