Tea with Hungry Lucy #95 (Sock Dreams and Didgeridoos)
After a bit of a slow start, Christa and War-N remember how to make a podcast and return to your ear-holes. This week’s topic include Christa’s affinity for ugly socks, the difference between geeks, nerds and hackers, War-N’s didgeridoo, some old vinyl and Christa’s uncanny ability to edit video without looking. War-N also shares a lovely birthday greeting from Shawn and I-Li (aka Bloodwire). Other people’s music this week covers Nik Kershaw’s latest album “You’ve Got to Laugh” (Download) and The Postal Service.
War-N also announces Hungry Lucy’s performance at the Blacksun Festival in New Haven, CT on March 14th. HL are hoping to stop for a show in Pittsburgh on the 12th or 15th of March … if anyone is interested.
Also mention, from Elsewhere on the ‘net:
Sock Dreams
David Byrne and Thom Yorke on the Real Value of Music (Wired Magazine)
David Byrne’s Survival Strategies for Emerging Artists - and Megastars (Wired Magazine)

There are differences between ‘geeks’ and ‘nerds’.
A geek refers to someone who is obsessive over something, usually computers. But I have met car geeks, comic book geeks, music geeks, and movie geeks. (I know I am a little pop culture geeky…)
Their love for said pastimes and obsessions makes them socially awkward most times.
But the original definition for ‘geek’ was a carnival performer that whose act consists of outrageous feats such as biting the heads off live animals…
I have NOT met one of those…
A nerd: an offensive term that deliberately insults somebody’s physical appearance or social skills.
They too are obsessive, but usually about excessively technical things, like science or academics.
Now there are geeky nerds, but I rarely find a nerdy geek. Huge difference.
My wife cannot decide between which category I fall under, when it comes to you guys…

What kind of shoes did you get (if you ever did get them). I bought a pair of casual shoes from ragazzivegan.com (BEAN-3 BLACK) and am very happy with the quality and the price. Some places are just outrageous when it comes to prices for “vegan” shoes. These shoes are very comfortable and I’ve worn them almost every day to work since getting them in October.
I used to go to places like Payless for non-leather shoes, while the price was cheap the styles are limited and ugly and they are not at all comfortable.
