Tea with Hungry Lucy #97 (Recreational Matchbook Collectors)

Tea with Hungry LucyEpisode 97 of Tea with Hungry Lucy kicks the year off right with tacky new jingles to arouse you and make you titter with delight! This week, Christa and War-N discuss the news the Sony/BMG (the last major label hold-out) has decided to throw in the towel and stop copy-protecting their music. About time we say! Hungry Lucy was featured on the Coverville podcast recently as well (see related blog post) … neato. War-N talks about DeepRockDrive which is an odd name, but interesting concept allowing music fans to petition to get their fave bands to do a live web concert. Interested in having Hungry Lucy do something like that? OPM this week covers Queen (we owe them) and dan le sac VS scroobius pip and their songs “Thou Shalt Always Kill” (video below) and “Letter from God to Man“. Fabulous wordsmith meets groovy beats … we think it’s nice. How about you?

Next week on the podcast, Hungry Lucy will perform their song “Good Girl” … won’t you join us?

Hi there! I saw your link to DeepRockDrive and then listened to the podcast. I’m one of the software engineers on the site, and it’s fun to hear you talking about our baby :-). You’ve definitely got us figured out. I voted on your petition, and hope to hear you soon!

Loved the new intro theme! I thought at first I was listening to a Willy Wonka type of podcast! And the OPM intro was simply wonderful! OMFG! I was laughing four or five minutes, and had to listen to it twice! Do you have lyrics for both jingles? I find a little bit of the words hard to understand…

Deep Rock Live sounds sounds awesome! Do you know, are the sessions recorded? Would CD’s/DVD’s be sold of the show?

As far as the 100th show is concerned, I wanted to come up with something, but couldn’t record anything since I have to mic for my computer… and I lost my digital recorder… but, all of a sudden I found the dang recorder Saturday in my car of all places (never mind the fact that I have cleaned that car out at least twice since I last used the darn recorder!)!

I agree that kids (ugh) emit some foul stench that can only be described as some sort of mixture between oatmeal, perperation, and ick.

    Yes, ick is a scent.

Speaking of kids (ugh)… we are not them, so please project all profanity that comes to tongue- don’t hide yer emotions!

Although I was not able to comment last week- I prefer CDs/Digital Albums- but will buy ala cart off iTunes when I know that only one or two songs are worth my buck… let’s not forget Lala.com for tracking down good music!

Christa- do they make Spider-Man socks for ADULTS! I swear Marvel are such losers making cool clothing for (ugh) kids and not us that are all growed up!

War-N- My eye has been twitching also for about a week… they say it’s stress… maybe you miss yer beard THAT much. I could donate somma the hairs from my back for a new beard toupee?

    lemme know!

BTW… interesting video that “Thou Shalt always kill…”

Almost shut it off 20 seconds in, but not bad at all…

  4. Laura Says:

OK, so I love the new jingles. I made Neil stop the show and play them a second time. Hee hee, I am giggling with glee!

Also gave you a vote on the Deep Rock Thingy. Had to put in a vote for the Mode and NIN as well. Looking forward to next week’s live performance. Chip, chip, cheerio and all that!

  5. Christa Belle Says:

Yay…glad everyone is liking the new jingles :) I nearly put up the lyrics, so I will for next week. Check back though as I may put them up sooner.

Angel, I checked Sockdreams, but no Spiderman socks that I could find for men. They do have quite a few other cool Men’s socks though, so check them out! http://www.sockdreams.com!

    Thanks everyone!
