Tea with Hungry Lucy #104 (It sends Chivas up my spine!)

February 24th, 2008 Warren 5 comments

Tea with Hungry Lucy (now with added socks)What? Ok, this week is a bit on the silly side, but what’s wrong with that, ay? In their coherent stage, HL discuss OPM’s of Dave Gahan and his new solo album ‘Hourglass‘. CB particularly connected with the song ‘Miracles‘. Other “m’s” were the movies “This is England” and the movie “Dark Water“. Both highly moving on totally different levels!

Guess what? CHICKEN BUTT!! No, seriously. The second episode of “Life with Hungry Lucy” is now up and available to view. #2 focuses on CB’s other interests and you get to see her in the Gnudi! The third episode will actually be available next week! Once they decide to do something, it WILL get done…eventually ;)

A bunch of other stuff is said, strange country accents pop up out of nowhere, War-N slurs his speech thanks to Chivas Regal and clinks his ice around in a glass just for Tyim! It’s pointless to resist, so go listen now! Who the hell knows what else they talked about. They have forgotten already!

A couple of bad words are said this week, just to warn anyone too young for such things. Not any “F-bombs” though, so no worries there :)

Until next time…”I ain’t stud’in you!”. What are you gonna do about it??

Rehearsing for Blacksun

February 23rd, 2008 Warren 6 comments

We just finished our first rehearsal for the Blacksun Festival in March. It went quite well considering we haven’t done a live set since Sept. 2007. This is a really fun set … well sculpted with a nice dip in the middle for Alfred (the EP version) and a kick at the end with Blue Dress (as you’ve not heard before), To Kill a King and In the Circle. I’m really looking forward to our set at Blacksun as well as seeing everyone else … OPM for miles baby!

A thought. Christa and I discussed doing a live video webcast of a rehearsal leading up to Blacksun. Is anyone interested in seeing/hearing such a thing?

February 17th, 2008 Warren 4 comments

Tea with Hungry Lucy (now with added socks)On a particularly windy episode of Tea with Hungry Lucy, Christa and War-N chat about their chat after the Secondshifters.com interview/podcast that premiered on Saturday. You can grab the podcast mp3 and chat transcript from Secondshifters.com. Christa tells us about her Tai Chi (and Chai Tea) plans. War-N talks about prep for the upcoming HL performance at the Blacksun Festival in New Haven, CT on March 14th. OPM this week becomes other people’s munchies as Christa talks about a yumscious lunch at La Bodega in Oxford, OH. War-N has a couple of musical picks. The first being a fabulous singing laptop called Mr. Hopkinson’ s Computer (thanks Grant) and the second being another of War-N’s electronic music inspirations, Jean Michel Jarre and his new Oxygene “Live in Your Living Room” DVD. Videos of both are below (or here if you can’t see ‘em).

Tea with Hungry Lucy #102 (Cooking in the Gnudi)

February 10th, 2008 Warren 2 comments

Tea with Hungry Lucy (now with added socks)In episode 102 of Tea with Hungry Lucy, Christa and War-N talk about a weekend of shooting video for the upcoming series of video podcasts (next week). We also hear a preview of yet another new song, entitled “Just Imagine” that was penned just 24 short hours prior. Christa tells us about the inspiration for the lyrics and War-N spouts some oddness about space cars and sharp angles. Sometimes it’s hard to know what goes on it that boy’s head! OPMs this week delve into Yazoo and their upcoming reunion tour and DVD as well as Halou and their new EP “Sawtooth” available on Feb 12th. Recent film viewings shared by Christa are “Black Snake Moan” and “The Last King of Scotland” … both excellent films. Then Christa goes off to prepare a delicious Gnudi dinner that War-N films!

Tune in to SecondShifters.com next Saturday, Feb. 16th at 10 PM EST for an interview with Hungry Lucy. Immediately following the interview will be a live chat with War-N and Christa.

Tea with Hungry Lucy #101 (Poiters Poicklets)

February 3rd, 2008 Warren 12 comments

Tea with Hungry Lucy (now with added socks)In episode 101 of Tea with Hungry Lucy, the nonsense once again flows like fine whining. The duo tell us about the fun afternoon spent with family from down under. War-N and CB also tell us about a new song in the works and even share some delicious vocal layers with us. We then discover (and hear) that War-N sounds a little bit like a muted trumpet … how odd! Hungry Lucy will be producing a new video podcast in the next couple of weeks. They want YOU to let them know what you want to see. For other people’s music this week, Christa delves into the nice breaths of Julee Cruise and her work in David Lynch‘s films. War-N tells us about the new single from Goldfrapp‘s forth-coming album “Seventh Tree” called “A and E” (as well as Alison’s delicious, thigh-high boots!). We are also curious about the origins of the chucklesome faux-gameshow “Numberwang“.

Props to all the fine folks that our inluding Hungry Lucy’s music in their YouTube creations. Some really cool stuff up there.

So, tell us…what do you want to see if our next video podcast?
