Blacksun recap

I’ll make everyone listen to episode 107 of Tea with Hungry Lucy for the Blacksun recap. ‘Twas a fun trip but we’re glad to be back home and ready continue work on new music … after all … that’s our strength and passion. Plenty more podcast action coming soon as well (audio & video).

I shall post pix/links to Blacksun goodness as they come in.

Hi. I hadn’t really heard of you before Black Sun (unless you count the juke box on the festival website) but I really enjoyed your set and bought a cd as result. I did say something in person, in an introverted you-are-people-I-don’t-know sort of way, but I thought I should drop a line and say something here too. My sister and I were both wowing over Christa Belle’s voice, and didn’t pick up on any hiccups. From your podcast it sounds like you won’t be back next year (correct me if I’m putting words in your mouths?), which is a loss at this end, but I get that you need to do what makes you feel comfortable, artistically. If you change your mind, and are playing in the New England area, I’ll definitely come see you.

Sharing music has always caused me to buy more music, be it a mix tape or CD from a friend or a free or almost free compilation from a music label. I never got into file sharing sites for music though. I am also trying to buy CDs directly from the artist when possible. I bought 2 of your CDs from Amazon early on before discovering your podcast, then ordered directly from you. This week I seem to be on a buying spree. I completed my Collide collection and my Love Spirals Downwards collection (which included a free download of the Lovespirials Motherless Child EP) direct from the artists. I just have to get into the habit of going to the artist web site before Amazon or iTunes.

When I see your success (and others) of doing it all yourself it makes me wonder why so many artists stick with a label anymore. Does someone like Tori Amos really need a label anymore or are they in debt up to their eyeballs to the record labels?

  3. Christa Belle Says:

Good question, Bibo. I hadn’t thought of ori Amos still being on a label, but she is. I think she’s a different circumstance to where she has total control AND is on a label. But, I do not know this for sure by any means. She may have gotten into that label at just the right time and knows how to “work it” to her advantage. I hope she’s not in debt up to her eyeballs!? ;)

Thanks for your very kind words, Joseph. I’m glad you didn’t notice any hiccups. Funny how we torture ourselves with that stuff, ay? I wish I didn’t. I’m glad you and your sister enjoyed our set. It meant a lot that you came over to say hi and stuff. I hope you enjoy HL, being a new fan. You get to discover how crazy we rally are :)

    Well, take care all!

    Woops…Tori, not ori ;)

I chatted with you at Blacksun, and I just listened to your 107 podcast. First, you were certainly NOT out of place! The gothic scene varies greatly, and the spirit of Blacksun is to introduce new artists to attendees. Many people were blown away by your music; as I said to you in the Green Room, you’re on my playlist along with Delerium, Lisa Gerard, and Switchblade Symphony. I also have playlists with more stomp and oontz. :) Now there are many, many people who fell in love with your ethereal music! BTW, “Could it Be” is one of my favourite songs. I’m sorry to hear that you don’t dig the live music experience, but please be reassured that your talent shone through. I hope you two recover soon! (and yes, Vice Chocolates rocks on toast)

I was relieved to find that Bibo and I both thought your ‘Hard drive and crash’ comment had to do with your (ugh) Macs dying on you again!

Wish I coulda gone out there to see you.

How was Ego Likeness’ performance- I really dig them.

You know… I really could be persueded to make a trip out there next year, if you are invited to play again, and if you’d be willing to…
