Tea with Hungry Lucy #111 (The Chicken and the Walking Stick)

Tea with Hungry Lucy (now with added socks)This week’s Tea with Hungry Lucy is high on the insanity meter! A mix of emotions this week as Christa and War-N talk about the therapeutic benefits of making music as well as the confidence struggles it can sometimes bring to the surface. For the OPM segment this week, Christa chats about Michael Jackson‘s “She’s Out of My Life” that she received via lala.com. War-N talks about the film “August Rush” that he found high on the sap factor, but was still in tears by movie’s end. Christa rounded out the episode with some Veggie Ragu talk which made us all hungry and brought the podcast to a hasty end.

So, tell us…anything you’d like to add, edit or delete from the podcast?

Any Twitter-folk out there? Why not follow War-N’s ramblings?

Hi, thanks for brightening my Monday morning, as I generate a ‘Big Ass Ham’ load of reports for my corporate masters. I find the ‘Big Ass Ham’ sound clip very funny, and prefer those kinds of bits made by you or your friends to sounds taken from other shows.

Enjoyed hearing your review of “August Rush”. I watched it last week, and by the end was involved and moved, but it did take me a while to enjoy. Mainly I didn’t like the kid and his annoying voice over. I was more forgiving of the movie once I figured out it was an updated version of “Oliver Twist”. So as a modern fairy tale it was enjoyable. Because if I put my realism filter on, I’d start finding problems. Like I think the kid was supposed to be a ‘savant’ but he didn’t seem crippled enough, like autistic or ‘special’, just seemed to have ADD and get lost. Robin Williams was odd, he has this quality I guess I’d have to call talent … in the same moment I’m not sure if he’s going to hug the kid or rape him. I liked the music and the multi-instrumental sympony the best. War-N, did you notice the Australian bullroarer? It reminded me of your talking about didgeridoos last week.

I bought some Frey wine for my father last month for his birthday. (My mom gets headaches so I thought the Frey wine would be good for her to try also). I got White Zin, their table Red, and Merlot which is my dad’s favorite. Unfortunately the first two didn’t go over that well, I think they were less sweet and more tart than my parents are used to. They are more ‘desert wine’ drinkers, like one of their favorites is Moscato D’Asti that’s real sweet. My dad liked the Frey Merlot a lot. I don’t think my mom tried enough to really declare if they helped keep headaches away, mainly she just stays away from Red wines.

Hope you both have a nice week. Thanks for the comforting chatter, inspiration, and goofiness.

I undersatnd what you mean about the teeth. I have a gap in my front teeth and 2 dentists kept bugging me to fix it, I passed. On the other hand I’ve wanted Martin L. Gore to get his teeth fixed.

It was a BBC America marathon at our house this weekend, so we saw sir chicken ceaser.

And nope it wasn’t me asking about onions.

And thanks to War-N I’ve finally been pressured to sign up for twitter “BiboJim” is my name.

Oops…sorry Bibo. I thought it was you about the onions. I was wrong. Whoever it was, onion doesn’t always equal shallot! ;)

Jeff, I understand what you mean about the Robin Williams character. He was a bad man, so we were supposed to think he would do bad. I wondered the same thing more than once! I didn’t, however, get what you meant about the voice over? I like Freddie and I believe he had some “teeth fixing” going on in the movie, as a matter of fact. I think he had an “Invisalign” kind of braces and it made his speech a bit different than usual. I can’t confirm this, but I was a bit thrown by it. I didn’t mention it as I didn’t want to draw attention to it for War-N ;)

Anyhoo, thanks for the comments guys. We’ll be back Sunday with yet more ramblings and fun topics!!

    Take care,

Hi Christa Belle, thanks for the response to my comment. Just to clarify about the voice over, I liked what was said about the power of music, I just find such wisdom coming from children kind of annoying and fake. That’s just my knee-jerk first reaction, which I do try to rise above. I’m use to (or prefer) voice overs by older characters who are reflecting on their life, like in “Shawshank Redemption” or “Memoirs of a Geisha”.

Dick Barton was a BBC TV series in the 70′s or 80′s…can’t remember if it was serious a hack comedy….

I really like the “Big Ass Ham”. It’s so funny that Anji is responsible for it. I love the randomness with which it appears in the podcast. Keep it up, War-N!

Is there any way we could get this as a download? Imagine your phone repeating this classic phrase!

Digby’s Travelling music is great, almost as funny as BIGASS Hamm! I like those much better than the shrieking monkey, That sounds more like a bird squawking.

so long as it’s still powered by vegetables, I’m down wit dat. oh yeah, the volume level on the new OPM intro is blazingly loud, compared to the rest of the show.

I don’t think Angie (not Anji) would like to be on people’s phones, but I”ll let her know how much you love her Big Ass Ham!! :)

Oooh…I didn’t realize the OPM intro was so loud. Then again, War-N does the levels, so why would I know? We shall try and remedy that in future episodes. Thanks for letting us know. SInce we don’t go back and re-listen to ourselves, sometimes I guess some things slip by us. Sorry.

Welp, that be it until next time from me.

    I’m in the Garden!!
