Tea with Hungry Lucy (now with added socks)In episode 101 of Tea with Hungry Lucy, the nonsense once again flows like fine whining. The duo tell us about the fun afternoon spent with family from down under. War-N and CB also tell us about a new song in the works and even share some delicious vocal layers with us. We then discover (and hear) that War-N sounds a little bit like a muted trumpet … how odd! Hungry Lucy will be producing a new video podcast in the next couple of weeks. They want YOU to let them know what you want to see. For other people’s music this week, Christa delves into the nice breaths of Julee Cruise and her work in David Lynch’s films. War-N tells us about the new single from Goldfrapp’s forth-coming album “Seventh Tree” called “A and E” (as well as Alison’s delicious, thigh-high boots!). We are also curious about the origins of the chucklesome faux-gameshow “Numberwang“.

Props to all the fine folks that our inluding Hungry Lucy’s music in their YouTube creations. Some really cool stuff up there.

So, tell us…what do you want to see if our next video podcast?

Tea with Hungry Lucy #99 (Hojo and Jungle Jim)

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

Tea with Hungry LucyWhat did HL talk about this episode? Well, there was Howard Jones, Howard Jones and uh Howard Jones! Just back, literally, from the road on a trip to Pittsburgh, the duo settle back into a warm house with a nice little chat. Other than HoJo madness, CB mentions an unusual OPM (in this case Other People’s Market’s) in the form of Jungle Jim’s International Market. A mainstay in Christa’s culinary adventures, she just wanted to “shoutout” to the man in the cape for sticking with small business since 1974! Thanks, Jim!

What the SMEG is this? It’s beautiful, it’s functional and it’s in the kitchen! What Christa thought was Italian is actually British. Oops!

Also, a BIG thanks to Ellie for allowing two total strangers to sit front and center at the Howard Jones show at her table! It was lovely to meet you and hope you made it back to Wisconsin safely :) You made the experience even that much cooler!

Hey…you should grab the original version of ‘Glo‘ while you still can. After this bunch runs out, the double-disc will no longer be available!! A single disc version will be put in its place. This is all in the hopes to draw more folks to the lovely songs on the album and make it more affordable for YOU! Oh yeah. Don’t forget we still have a bunch of t-shirts and hoodies available for your lovely body to wear!

See ya next week on the 100th episode of Tea with Hungry Lucy!! Thanks for listening all these episodes! You’ve made it great :)

Tea with Hungry LucyNasal voices, many belches and a funny misunderstanding whilst making the tea! Just a few of the topics mentioned on this week’s TWHL! CB lets us know that her DVD making is done and she can now send them off to their respectful recipients! Aren’t you glad you know this? War-N shares the enthusiasm of his new toy, BFD2, and the delicious drumminess that will follow on new HL tunage. OPM’s of the week are Antony and the Johnsons, which was CB’s pick, and their song “Hope There’s Someone” (from the “I Am a Bird Now” album). Go watch the live video below! War-N’s pick was Sia and her new album “Some People Have Real Problems“. Her very bizarre video for the song “Buttons” is also below. A luscious videofest!

We’re still yearning to hear from you and what you think of TWHL. We want to air your views on our podcast (good, bad or otherwise!) for exposure in the 100th episode. Only a couple of weeks left to really let us have it in the ear’oles!

Ending this jam-packed episode is a live performance of the song “Good Girl” from the album “To Kill A King“. Listen as the subtle piano and gentle vocals lull you to sleep, or bring tears to your eyes. Either way, it’s lovely.

Speaking of live performances, go vote NOW for a live Hungry Lucy internet concert at DeepRockDrive! Don’t you want to see HL perform exactly what you want to hear? Get any camera angle you want? Answer questions via live chat? Then go on and vote for it, silly!! :) They have to reach 1000 Votes to be able to do the show. Tell a friend, tell your Mom. Tell everyone to vote now! That is followed with a please, of course :)

Lyrics to the new 2008 Jingles! You wanted ‘em, you got ‘em!

Tea with Hungry Lucy #97 (Recreational Matchbook Collectors)

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Tea with Hungry LucyEpisode 97 of Tea with Hungry Lucy kicks the year off right with tacky new jingles to arouse you and make you titter with delight! This week, Christa and War-N discuss the news the Sony/BMG (the last major label hold-out) has decided to throw in the towel and stop copy-protecting their music. About time we say! Hungry Lucy was featured on the Coverville podcast recently as well (see related blog post) … neato. War-N talks about DeepRockDrive which is an odd name, but interesting concept allowing music fans to petition to get their fave bands to do a live web concert. Interested in having Hungry Lucy do something like that? OPM this week covers Queen (we owe them) and dan le sac VS scroobius pip and their songs “Thou Shalt Always Kill” (video below) and “Letter from God to Man“. Fabulous wordsmith meets groovy beats … we think it’s nice. How about you?

Next week on the podcast, Hungry Lucy will perform their song “Good Girl” … won’t you join us?

Tea with Hungry Lucy #96 (Don't Believe the Skype!)

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyWow, what a bunch of crap! Where to begin? Ok, War-N jumps in and talks about how we spent christmas day, as does CB, and the joys of a solitary holiday. CB chats about making her movies and how the vision of “Shawn Scorn” enters her brain every time she doesn’t complete something. Thank you, Shawn!! War-N poses the question to all of you about the possibility of a live call-in segment on TWHL to give the podcast more of a spontaneous feel. Wouldn’t you love that? Also, do you prefer whole albums, or do you just purchase individual songs? Let us know! OPM’s included Null Device and their 2007 album “Excursions” (iTunes), which was CB’s pick, and War-N chose Two Loons for Tea and their album “Nine Lucid Dreams” (iTunes / Amazon MP3). Movies talked about were the very powerful “Tideland” (trailer) and “I Am Legend” (trailer). Both of these films were VERY powerful, in different respects, and should be watched with much enthusiasm!!

Hope you have enjoyed the theme tunes, and all of the other jingles, as they are all retired as of now. Thank you for humoring them as long as you did :) With a new year, new tunes must be made. We are, after all, sporadic creatures with short attention spans! We are now feeling the flow of the music once again and hope to share some with you VERY soon! Thanks for listening and supporting us through nearly 100 episodes!!

Tea with Hungry Lucy #95 (Sock Dreams and Didgeridoos)

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyAfter a bit of a slow start, Christa and War-N remember how to make a podcast and return to your ear-holes. This week’s topic include Christa’s affinity for ugly socks, the difference between geeks, nerds and hackers, War-N’s didgeridoo, some old vinyl and Christa’s uncanny ability to edit video without looking. War-N also shares a lovely birthday greeting from Shawn and I-Li (aka Bloodwire). Other people’s music this week covers Nik Kershaw’s latest album “You’ve Got to Laugh” (Download) and The Postal Service.

War-N also announces Hungry Lucy’s performance at the Blacksun Festival in New Haven, CT on March 14th. HL are hoping to stop for a show in Pittsburgh on the 12th or 15th of March … if anyone is interested.

Also mention, from Elsewhere on the ‘net:
Sock Dreams
David Byrne and Thom Yorke on the Real Value of Music (Wired Magazine)
David Byrne’s Survival Strategies for Emerging Artists - and Megastars (Wired Magazine)

Tea with Hungry Lucy #94 (Up Froo Oles)

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyFinally, the monkey kids have returned with some new ramblings and such! This week mentions holiday business, out of town caring for family, voluntary hair loss on both counts and what influence The Beatles had on CB (her OPM choice of the week). Lots of mentions of movies including Across the Universe (hence the Beatlemania) and Inland Empire. The latter scaring the pee pee out of CB whilst folding laundry and the former being a wonderful musical treat for all. War-N’s OPM was A Fine Frenzy, especially the song ‘Almost Lover‘, and both videos for said song (CD/Download). CB mentions the movie-making process for a yearly video she does, including all family-oriented happenings, and how that’s all going. Also mentioned was a photographer Christa saw featured in BW Magazine named Dominic Rouse. For fans of interesting black & white photography, and just good photography in general, go check out his lovely work! The podcast closes with some brand new music … yum yum!

Join us again next week, and we WILL be back next week, for some more musical fun and maybe a few OPM tunes for your listening pleasure!

Tea with Hungry Lucy #93 (Where's My Johnny Bag?)

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyThis week the duo are a bit too relaxed for their own good. With the arrival of their new baby kitty, Pullo, they have just been loungin’ around the ‘ouse with the boys enjoying the rainy day. But, OPM’s were abound. CB’s choice was Faun Fables‘ musical masterpiece “Family Album” from 2004. War-N’s choices were from the two former parts of the Lamb, Lou Rhodes and her new solo album (Bloom) and Andy Barlow’s new project called Luna Seeds. If you haven’t seen it already, War-N made a video of his hair being cut to donate to Locks of Love organization. A nice, homegrown batch of musician hair will now help out a little guy or gal who needs it more than he did.

This weeks ‘cast ends with a live, piano version of the song “Rebirth” from the album “Glo“. A secret lyric is revealed that has never before been sung, or recorded! What a treat! CB lets us in on the link between the song Rebirth and the concept behind the album “To Kill A King“. Oooh…what yumminess this week holds!

So, does anyone know? What the ____ is a johnny bag?
