Tea with Hungry Lucy #93 (Where's My Johnny Bag?)

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyThis week the duo are a bit too relaxed for their own good. With the arrival of their new baby kitty, Pullo, they have just been loungin’ around the ‘ouse with the boys enjoying the rainy day. But, OPM’s were abound. CB’s choice was Faun Fables‘ musical masterpiece “Family Album” from 2004. War-N’s choices were from the two former parts of the Lamb, Lou Rhodes and her new solo album (Bloom) and Andy Barlow’s new project called Luna Seeds. If you haven’t seen it already, War-N made a video of his hair being cut to donate to Locks of Love organization. A nice, homegrown batch of musician hair will now help out a little guy or gal who needs it more than he did.

This weeks ‘cast ends with a live, piano version of the song “Rebirth” from the album “Glo“. A secret lyric is revealed that has never before been sung, or recorded! What a treat! CB lets us in on the link between the song Rebirth and the concept behind the album “To Kill A King“. Oooh…what yumminess this week holds!

So, does anyone know? What the ____ is a johnny bag?

Tea with Hungry Lucy #91 (Terrabytes, Fence Tables and Lollilove)

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyIn episode 91 of Tea with Hungry Lucy, Christa and War-N discuss their weekend of terrabyte hard drives and turning fences into tables. One of Hungry Lucy’s remixes is released on the “Helpline” single from Polish band, God’s Bow. HL remixed the track “This Perfect Time” into chilled, downtempo bliss. The big news this week is the availability of a brand new song from HL called “Hill”. This song will be released alongside Skinny Puppy, Robert Smith, Type O Negative, Lacuna Coil, Lunascape even an Edgar Allen Poe reading by actor Christopher Lee. We’re talking about the Asleep by Dawn Magazine Presents: DJ Ferret’s Underground Club Mix #3 CD + DVD. This very special compilation will be released on Oct. 30. 2007 exclusively at Hot Topic stores throughout the U.S. (for only $6.98 USD). OPMs this week delve into Hate Dept. Both Christa and War-N find Steven Seibold to be pretty dreamy. War-N’s pick this week is the latest album from former teen pop star, Mandy Moore entitled “Wild Hope“. War-N’s fave track is the song “Gardenia“. He heard all about this release on the Paste Culture Club podcast. There is also a nice “making of” video on Mandy’s website. CB and War-N also recently enjoyed the deliciously inappropriate humor of the film Lollilove (written, directed by and starring Jenna Fischer or The Office fame).

Until next time … that is all. Speak your mind, why don’t you?.

Tea with Hungry Lucy #90 (I Knead a Baker)

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyWell, hello there! HL are back this week, as is the Halloween intro, with another fun amount of time filled with stories, bread tips, OPM’s, drivel, and sickie germs! War-N’s a bit under the weather, but it didn’t stop him from working on music. War-N discusses the new trend in more big artists who are chucking their record labels and going for it on their own terms. A few of which are Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Madonna. Yeee haw!! You get to hear War-N’s OPM, his big brother, D James Harrison, in his song called “The Conclusion”. You can view the lovely video of said song here. CB’s OPM was Anita Baker and her album “Giving You the Best That I’ve Got”. CB recalls just how difficult Anita’s songs are, due to her lovely large vocal range, and how fun it was trying to sing along anyway! Christa also chats briefly about her new lens and some new, strange goings on in the house with possible spirits…or is it the fact that she needs to go to the eye doctor? After talking about his new gadget, War-N ends the ‘cast by saying he needs his recliner. May he rest in peace :)

Also mentioned: “Independence is Bliss” and “Stay Floaty” t-shirts. Until next time, don’t interrupt. It’s bad manners!

so what’s up with YOU?.

The duo also talk about their recent royalty statement from BMI and some of the surprising places their music has been played. Other people’s media this week focuses on the amazing film, “Children of Men“, the band Rosetta Stone (and song Adrenaline) and Hungry Lucy chums Lovespirals and their brand new album “Long Way From Home“. War-N shares some of his remix of Lovespirals’ song “Motherless Child” that you can get FREE if you order their album NOW! The podcast then descends into a string of more odd references than you can shake your stick at.

Tea With Hungry Lucy #88 (Blood, Fire and Flying Bologna)

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyFor this week’s Tea with Hungry Lucy, Christa and War-N chat about the fun they had performing and attending the Fetish Fantasy Island - Pirate Invasion event in Pittsburgh. There was lots of spanking and exposed parts, fire, flying luncheon meats and even a little (unintentional) blood …. eek! Both War-N and Christa were impressed with the venue and hospitality of everyone involved. Although still having voice problems, Christa pulled off a great performance and War-N said it was the most fun he’s had on stage in a while. Christa expresses concern that HL is still not quite “there” yet, when it comes to live performance. No worries, the next few months are about finishing the next CD anyway!

Your questions and comments will be addressed next week … so tell us what they are.

Tea with Hungry Lucy #87 (Would You Like Some Coughy?)

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyIn this slightly long episode, HL cover a lot of ground. Topics included Prince acting a fool, Howard Jones answering a question of War-N’s on the HoJo Podcast, another mention of the upcoming Pittsburgh show and attention is put to a blog comment on the GlideCam 2000 Pro. War-N’s OPM of this week is Evan Bartholomew and his new CD “Borderlands” (also of Bluetech) and Christa has more to say on Twin Peaks and Rome. A direct shoutout went to Tyim from CB on his mad design skills. Thanks, Tyim! Also, the duo chat aboot their recent day out photographing at Spring Grove Cemetery here in Cincinnati. Christa would like to apologize for her coughing throughout this episode. So there.

Did you have a Big Wheel as a kid? We did and they were great! Remember when kids went outside to play? Oh how times have changed. Those same Big Wheel drivers now appear on shows like Pinks. Maybe, someday, CB will too :)

Comments, thoughts, suggestions?.

Tea with Hungry Lucy #85 (French Bread and Falafel)

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyWanna know what Hungry Lucy talked about this week? So do they! Having recorded the poodcast last night and posting it today, HL seem to have forgotten what on earth they discussed! Things they do know are the OPM’s. CB’s choice was Smashing Pumpkins, specifically the album ‘Adore‘. War-N chatted about KLF and their origins and their method to their madness (video). The jaunty intro is back, as is the outro, until further notice. Power to the Chloe!!

A sneak peek into a rehearsal on the brand-new song “The Standing Ones”. A bit on the wonky side mix-wise, but oh well! With another week to rehearse, it’s sounding pretty good. But, there’s ALWAYS room for improvement!! Like what you hear? Let us know here.

Join us next week when HL can report on how the show went and how the Vertigo Reunion goes!

Tell me what’s on your mind..

Tea with Hungry Lucy #84 (And Nonsense It All Is)

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Tea with Hungry LucyThis week’s journey into nonsense finds Christa and War-N amidst rehearsals for upcoming shows now that the video prep and techie details are out of the way. War-N completely forgot how to play some of the older songs. There are so many non sequiturs and asides this week that your humble show note scribe is not sure where to begin. However, some of the external subjects discussed this week were:

The Mythbusters Sneeze
David Lynch and a cow
Die Warzau - Big Electric Metal Bass Face
Coil - The Angelic Conversation

Want a new theme tune, or the old one back? Tell us.
