“The Teatime Sessions” (digital version now available)

August 17th, 2008 1 comment

By popular demand, we are making “The Teatime Sessions” available via digital music channels. The release is already online at, Amazon MP3 Store, Napster, Rhapsody and Lala. iTunes (Worldwide), AmieStreet and eMusic will follow in the coming weeks (if they aren’t already there).

The Teatime Sessions is a collection of 9 live recordings made during the Tea with Hungry Lucy podcast over the past year and a half. These are nicely mixed & mastered versions of the original recordings and sound much better than the low quality podcast MP3.

Good show

Thanks for all those that came out to the Hungry Lucy / Thoushaltnot show at The Dock last night. Despite some initial hiccups with the sound system we managed (thanks in large part to TSN’s Foo) to get a stable enough system by show time. The performance went well (albeit short) and it was so great to see/hear Thoushaltnot again after so many years.

A fun time was had by all.

Thanks to Thoushaltnot for allowing us to grace the stage with you again, Chuck and Mike from The Dock for hosting the show and everyone that hooted and hollered between songs. You guys are fab!

For all the juicy gossip on what you missed, tune it to the next Tea with Hungry Lucy (which will be posted on the eve of Sun, Aug 3rd).

Tea with Hungry Lucy #119 (the especially windy city)

July 20th, 2008 7 comments

Tea with Hungry Lucy (now with added socks)Christa and War-N return to the airwaves with no video streams to distract them this week. Christa shares the progress of the vegetable garden while War-N stays indoors. The duo talk about their recent trip to Chicago to see Yazoo perform live (War-N so totally blogged about it). CB & W jump into prep mode for the upcoming show at The Dock with ThouShaltNot (July 31st) and also tell us about a special live album they’ll be selling at the show? Can’t make the show and want one? Tell us about it!

Other mentionables:

Would you pay ten short dollars for nine delicious live songs?

Tea with Hungry Lucy #118 (Harry Pooters and Medicated Wipes)

Tea with Hungry Lucy (now with added socks)Not much can really express this podcast other than just listening, so we’ll just tell you where to go for the OPM’s! CB was in “nod mode” with War-N this week with his picks of Alanis Morissette and her new album ‘Flavors of Entanglement‘ along with a powerful song by Amanda Palmer called ‘Astronaut’ and her new album ‘Who Killed Amanda Palmer’ due out in September. Both great picks from the OPM-Meister War-N!!

Another important mention is that HL are playing LIVE at The Dock here in Cincinnati with their old tour buddies ThouShaltNot on Thursday, July 31st!!! This was a lovely surprise to be worked out. Thanks, Alex!! HL are very much looking forward to this performance, and to see TSN again!

HL end this podcast with a live performance of their song ‘Softly‘ from the album ‘To Kill A King‘. See if you can spot the precise moment that War-N shifted the speed WAY up!!

OK then. Until next time, pull your own finger. It’s really quite fun! :)

Tea with Hungry Lucy #113 (Shiny Hammers)

Tea with Hungry Lucy (now with added socks)Tea with Hungry Lucy, Episode 113 ends with a performance of “Shine” (originally from the album, “To Kill a King“). This version is just electric piano, hammered dulcimer and Christa’s delicious vocals. Rather un-electronic for Hungry Lucy. Before the performance, though Christa goes on a rant about a newly opened local “restaurant” that the pair visited on their Sunday of attempted creativity boosting. War-N and Christa take a personal trip down memory lane and tell us about the apartment from hell in which they used to live. in the “other people’s music” segment, War-N talks about trip-hop pioneer’s Portishead and their very challenging, but rather clever new album “Third“. CB & War-N also talk about MP3 vs. CD vs. vinyl.

Do you still buy vinyl, or is it ancient history?

Any Twitter-folk out there? Why not follow War-N’s ramblings? It’s fun. You can point and laugh.
